IAHS's Brian Long To Assist Tupelo Thunder in 2010

The BNA Bank Cotton States League will have another top area coach on hand in 2010.  Itawamba's Brian Long, a 25-year coaching veteran, will take the field with the Tupelo Thunder this season.  Coach Long will assist NEMCABB officer Buddy Hall with the Tupelo squad this season.  "We couldn't be more pleased," said BNA Bank CSBL president Clark Richey.  "To have a coach like Coach Long join our league will benefit our whole program and the players who are a part of it."

Coach Long is a graduate of Mantachie High School, Clarke College, and Delta State University. Coach Long played baseball at Clarke College for former Ole Miss great Joe Gibbon and at Delta State for the legendary Dave “Bo” Ferris. He also served one year as a graduate assistant for Ferris.

Coach Long has been at Itawamba AHS for 25 years as head baseball coach. During his tenure, the Indians have won 466 games, 11 division championships, 5 division runners-up, and 3 North half runners-up.  His teams have made 16 playoff appearances and have been ranked in the top 15 in the state of Mississippi 9 times. He has also had 55 former players to continue their education through baseball, and 2 former Indians have gone on to play professionally.

Coach Long and his wife Kim have been married 25 years and have two children, Jake (22) and Erin (14).
